- The negotiated contract for the trust management for a 5 year period of the water company of Algiers was awarded on 28 november 2005 to the French company Suez.
- According to the Minister of water resources, The Sahara conceals drinkable water reserves estimated at 40,000 billion m3.
- Bad quality lemonades and fruit juices account for 15 to 20% of the market, according to experts.
- Sugar accounts for 10 to 20% of the price structure of a carbonated soft drink.
- Hamoud Boualem, Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola and Ifri represent more than 70% of the carbonated soft drink market in Algeria.
- Purified water costs 22 dinars/m3, desalinated water, from 46 to 50 dinars/m3, and impounded water, 22 dinars/m3 (source: Ministry of water resources).
- A clean out operation (to get the silt out of an old Algerian dam) would cost as much as a new dam.
- The Beni-Bahdal dam which dates back to the 50’s stores approximately 15 million m3 of water whereas its capacity reaches 63 million m3.
- Suez-Environnement company which is in charge of the trust management of the water supply system of Algiers is bound, under the contract, to install some 250,000 water meters to better fight against fraud.
